Creative Movement and Tap
Ages 3-5
The curriculum for creative movement is designed for children ages
3-5. The focus is to teach children to express themselves through
movement. Students will explore locomotive and non-locomotive
movement, pathways, and directions using music and stories. The class
teaches an awareness of oneself and one's relationship to the world
around them. In addition to physical advancement, the children will learn
about communication, self-discipline, and confidence. Most
important, the focus of creative movement class is to discover the
joy in movement and to have fun! Tap is included at the end of class to enhance rhythm and listening skills.
Ballet and Tap
Ages 3-7
This class teaches the basics of classical ballet and forms a foundation for future dance education.
The class will teach primary skills while cultivating a love for
movement and dance. Calliope ballet classes also include creative dance to encourage the child's development of self-expression and imagination. Tap is included at the end of class to enhance rhythm and listening skills.
Ages 7 - 18
While continuing to cultivate a joy in movement and dance, the ballet classes for older children start focusing more on technique and skill building. More complex choreography is also taught. Calliope classes grow with the student.
Adult Ballet
Ballet is a great way to tone and exercise but still have some fun. This class is for all levels and focuses on strength and flexibility.
Tap & Swing
Ages 10 and up
This class is all about rhythm. Students will become musicians with
their feet as they learn the elements of tap. Swing dancing is an
aerobic workout for the entire body. Students will learn the basic
steps, jumping, turning, and partnering to a variety of music.
Tumbling and Ballet
Ages 5 and up
The children will learn the basics of classical ballet with the Calliope focus on imagination and the joy of movement. In addition to ballet this class will teach basic tumbling skills such as somersaults, cartwheels, bridges, and handstands. Tumbling strengthens the child's body and confidence at the same time.
Private Lessons:
Weddings- If you and your fiancé want
to feel more comfortable on the dance floor and maybe show off a
little, private lessons are a fun way to spend some time together and
ease a little stress while planning your wedding.
Special Needs
- A child may benefit from private dance lessons that cater to their
needs. Kelleé has experience working with Down's syndrome children, and
children with cerebral palsy.
